UMS SKELDAR teamed up with Saab and Dutch shipbuilder Demel to showcase integrated maritime platforms at the annual NIDV (Netherlands Industries for Defence and Security) Symposium & Exhibition held 30 November 2017 in the AHOY exhibition halls in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The event highlighted the latest technological developments in the defence and security sectors, and attracted companies, organisations and senior representatives from Government Ministries, Armed Forces and Defence Materiel agencies. NIDV is acknowledged as the only international event, providing technology innovations and strategic dialogue, focused on the defence sectors of the NATO Benelux nations (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg).
David Willems explained:
“Our participation at this important event is part of our strategic position with maritime defence decision-makers to showcase our unmatched unmanned rotary VTOL portfolio, focusing on the flagship SKELDAR-200 designed as a multi-role platform integrated to meet a range of operational missions from minesweeping, ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance), border patrol, police action and SAR (Search and Rescue).”
The Skeldar V-200’s major mission capabilities in the naval context includes target attainment and transfer of target data to strike platforms. The UAV is also used for instant battle damage assessment and control of indirect fire. It can also be used for logistics support and ship-to-ship or ship-to-land transfers in rough weather conditions.
