UMS SKELDAR chooses Australia for the world debut of its first full-scale mock-up of V-200 with Wescam™ MX8 sensor

Europe’s leading provider of Rotary Unmanned Aerial Vehicle platforms chooses Avalon 2019 as the first Australian location for its SKELDAR V-200 full-scale mock-up with Wescam™ MX8 sensor.

Europe’s leading provider of Rotary Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) platforms, UMS SKELDAR, has chosen Avalon 2019 in Australia for the world debut of its full-scale mock-up of the SKELDAR V-200 installed with the Wescam™ MX-8 electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) airborne imaging system. The MX-8 is designed for small tactical UAVs and is equipped with an advanced image processing suite that produces real-time image enhancement across all sensors.

David Willems, Head of Business Development for UMS SKELDAR, explains:

“This will be the first time we have had a full-scale SKELDAR V-200 on show in Australia for customers, potential customers and other interested parties to look around and analyse in terms of its full capabilities. With the Wescam ™ MX-8 on show as well, we will be able to showcase how our platform uniquely handles multiple payloads, can fly over five hours and incorporates the industry leading Hirth Engines heavy fuel engine which provides significantly unmatched time between overhauls.”

The SKELDAR V-200 was conceived as a maritime platform, and is suitable for C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) and SAR (Search and Rescue) roles. In addition, the SKELDAR V-200 uses Jet A-1, JP5 and JP8, kerosene-based fuel (NATO code F-34, F-44).
