UMS SKELDAR extends partnership with ESG by adding high-tech sensors to its UAV portfolio

UMS SKELDAR, Europe’s only multi-platform RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) provider, expands the capabilities of its bespoke SKELDAR V-200 following successful trials alongside German partner ESG.

esg_news_01The global multi-payload Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) solutions provider has enhanced its partnership with ESG (ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH) following the successful demonstrations of new state-of-the-art features within its rotary vertical take-off (VTOL) SKELDAR V-200. In a record two weeks’ time, UMS SKELDAR has integrated and performed extensive flight tests incorporating weather measurement sensors developed in a research project together with ESG and Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw).

The high-tech weather sensors will further enhance the capabilities of the SKELDAR V-200 as the leading RPAS multi-payload and high-endurance platform within the mid-range UAV market. The flight test demonstrated the versatility of the platform as an advanced high capacity test asset, able to integrate and interchange ready-to-use sensor types.

The long-standing strategic agreement between UMS SKELDAR and ESG follows on from the pioneering ILA Berlin Air Show and German Navy workshop in Linstow earlier this year, and further positions the company for eligible RPAS solutions for deployment within German Federal and civilian contracts, such as the German Navy and the Bundeswehr (German defence forces and civil procurement agencies).

Jakob Baumann, former two-star general in the Swiss military and CEO and Delegate of the Board at UMS SKELDAR, commented on the partnership with ESG.

“Our latest agreement with German partners ESG cements our business model in forming strategic relationships with key stakeholders across the world. The SKELDAR V-200 has become a truly unmatched and versatile platform as demonstrated within the test trials. We are always finding innovative technologies to enhance our portfolio of RPAS solutions and our latest work with ESG follows a succession of global flight demonstrations.”

The partnership with ESG also includes a range of certification services, alongside the provision of the UMAT Ground Control Station which has been integrated inside ESGs Flexible Mobile GCS of the Unmanned Mission Avionics Test Helicopter (UMAT) for the R-350, with potential migration to the SKELDAR V-200.
