UMS 2021
The past four months have been hugely satisfying for the UMS SKELDAR team.
For the latter part of 2021, we have not only completed several trials for our platforms but we have also been awarded a significant contract. Let’s look at our latest news:
In October, we announced the success of the SKELDAR V-200’s flight trials with the Finnish Border Guard.
The project allowed for an understanding of how authorities could use unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) for diverse and demanding operations at sea both now and in future scenarios. The V-200 completed multiple operational flights and successfully demonstrated a range of features including automatic take-off and landing (ATOL) capabilities; vessel identification at different ranges and altitudes; search and rescue during both day and night; and transponder demonstrations. To perform the missions, the SKELDAR V-200 was equipped with multiple payloads including an Automatic Identification System (AIS), Wescam MX-8 Electro-Optical and Infrared (EO/IR) sensor as well as the high-capacity Leonardo Pico-SAR Synthetic Aperture Radar.
In November, we announced our second contract with the German Navy.
Within this, UMS SKELDAR will provide additional V-200 vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aircraft systems including ground control stations, plus support equipment spare parts. Equipped with an electro-optical/infrared sensor, the V-200 will provide extended reconnaissance and identification services for its host vessel.
Alongside the German Navy contract, we also announced in November
Our cooperation agreement with Primoco UAV SE to provide selected customers with a combination of the Primoco One 150 fixed-wing and the SKELDAR V-150 rotary-wing UAS.
Enabling organizations, the versatility to use both platforms as part of their missions, this agreement is a significant step forwards in terms of how unmanned aircraft can be used to form one solution.
