UMS SKELDAR’s unique V-200 VTOL platform takes centre stage at the most innovative trade event in aerospace; UMS partners with ESG to provide expanding unmanned maritime, military and civilian sector capabilities
Tuesday April 24th 2018
Stand Details: ILA Berlin, Hall 2, Stand No. 225
World pioneer of rotary heavy fuel engines and NATO-compliant Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) solutions UMS SKELDAR has joined forces with key partner ESG (ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH) to showcase the companies’ combined UAV capabilities at ILA Berlin, 25th-29th April. Incorporating the SKELDAR V-200 and drone defence system GUARDION as prime examples of the innovative technologies on show, UMS and ESG will provide visitors with a full spectrum of military, maritime and civilian drone capabilities.
With leading experts discussing themes including what the key innovations of the future need to address, ILA Berlin will not only be an opportunity to discuss future requirements, but also see the next generation of UAV technologies in action. Carl Foucard, Head of Sales for UMS SKELDAR, explains: “UMS and ESG are continuing to innovate the UAV sector with technologies and platforms that provide companies with the latest solutions to their needs. For example, with our world-class SKELDAR V-200, which not only is proven to run on heavy fuels, but also operates multiple payloads, we have a VTOL platform that is completely fit for purpose, whether in a maritime, military or civilian setting.”
Alongside UMS SKELDAR’s V-200 platform, ESG will be demonstrating its drone defence system, GUARDION. This modular system has been designed to detect and defend against commercially available drones, therefore protecting users from the dangers emanating from their unauthorised use.
Gregor Zowierucha, Head of Business Units Mission Aircraft and Unmanned Aircraft Systems at ESG GmbH, explains: “The UAV market is one that is growing exponentially, with a variety of drones of all shapes and sizes entering the space. The need for multirole UAVs that can carry out a wide range of applications such as reconnaissance, identification, target acquisition and electronic warfare all the while being able to run on heavy fuels, is becoming ever greater, especially in the maritime sectors. I am very excited by our combined capabilities as we execute on a number of sizeable contracts in the coming months.”
ILA Berlin, being held between 25th to 29th April at the Berlin ExpoCenter Airport, focuses on aerospace innovations in five categories: aviation, space, defence and security, supplier and special features. With a combination of discussions and workshops being held across the exhibition and conference programme, the event is an opportunity for organisations to come together to discuss the innovations of the future.
